Last week some of the team got together for a morning out at Tractor Supply. Tractor Supply is a great dog friendly spot to visit and work on manners in public, socializing to new smells, sounds, and objects, as well as learning how to greet people properly.
Anitra brought Cowboy, the 3 year old Rottweiler who is here for Training Camp, and Jonathan brought Puppy Camp trainee, Andy. Andy is a 12 week old German Shorthaired Pointer who is learning the puppy basics in 2 week Puppy Camp. Like with any field trip, everyone starts out walking in circles to gain focus and burn off energy before heading into the store. Cowboy shows off a polite sit before being invited into Tractor Supply. Great self control Cowboy!
Andy follows along while Jonathan shops. She got lots of practice keeping all four paws on the ground while she got petted, instead of jumping and demanding attention.
Trips out with our dogs are always a good time! The dogs learn how to relax wherever they go and that they aren’t always the center of attention. Cowboy did well just hanging out while Anitra shopped, and wasn’t worried about the young puppy near him. Both trainers and dogs had a great time!
