You’ve probably noticed we walk in circles a lot! This is a great exercise that starts the minute we get out of the car, whether in a familiar or new place. This keeps the dogs focused so they know to always look to their person instead of getting excited or anxious about going somewhere different. A few minutes of circles in the parking lot before heading into a new place starts the outing off on a calm, relaxed note. We always set the dogs up to succeed by helping them burn off some energy before expecting them to be calm. Most of the dogs are also seeing each other for the first time, so walking circles as a group also helps the dogs get to know each other without having to be in each other’s faces. It’s a relief to them to know there’s no pressure to do anything except just follow some basic rules and “just be” while the humans hang out at Lowe's.
