Sometimes the hardest thing is doing nothing at all. Benjamin is learning there are times when his people want to watch television or simply not pay attention to him. He needs to learn to go chill on his own during those times. No matter how cute Benjamin is, sometimes his parents need a break.
What's the best way for Benjamin to learn this most difficult of lessons? From his buddy Merlin of course! Dogs can learn from other dogs. Trainer Melinda has set the situation up by putting them both on their dog beds in a space she has designated their settle space. Then she gives them something yummy to chew on so they will be content in their space.
Benjamin starts small by only having to stay in his settle space for a few minutes. He'll build on this success slowly until he can stay for much longer periods of time. Since he's still learning though, trainer Melinda releases him after a few minutes so he'll better understand the lesson.
Good job Benjamin!
