Charlie is working hard through his Training Camp program with trainer Melinda. Charlie sometimes likes to steal objects in the house, not for the object itself, but for the attention that comes from it. This is a sign of a smart little boy! But Melinda has a few tricks up her sleeve!
To keep Charlie busy in the house, know where he is and what he’s getting into, and to provide some mental stimulation, Melinda turns mealtime into a game. Melinda fills a treat dispensing ball with Charlie’s food. Charlie has to sit for his food and continue to hold his sit when Melinda places the treat ball down. When she says his release word: “All done!” he can get to work! Rolling the ball around gets the food out, and Charlie stays hard at work. Melinda also gives him lots of praise and attention while he works. This way Charlie gets lots of attention for getting into the right things! Instead of getting chased for stealing something that wasn’t his, Charlie gets tons of verbal rewards for going after his food. Good Boy Charlie!
