It was a busy weekend of BBQ'ing & kids at Tracy’s house, but Ellie did great. Tracy reminded her guests to ignore Ellie when they first arrived to avoid rewarding jumping and over excitement. This shows Ellie that overly excited behavior never gets attention. When she is calm, then she gets petted. This also allows Ellie to feel more comfortable about approaching people she doesn't know. By controlling who comes through the door and ensuring that her guests ignore Ellie, she is able to relax knowing Tracy is taking that important job.
Dogs who stay under our Continuing Education program not only get good manners reinforced, they also become part of the family and easily settle in to the rules, boundaries, and calm leadership that the humans provide. Ellie always has a good time, and we’re always happy to have her!
