Harper does her leash drills every morning before breakfast. Exercising her mentally and physically will tire Harper out more than walking 5 miles! Giving her back to back commands on a walk keeps Harper focused on her person instead of searching for something to get into.
We follow the same basic routine every morning and every evening. Potty, work/play, eat, and settle. Leaders make all the decisions throughout the day like when and where everything takes place. This sets Harper up for success as she learns what's expected of her. Routines also create habits. If a dog has bad habits, we give them something else to do. Harper is following commands and staying focused on her handler instead of biting the leash or chasing birds. She is a smart dog that has great potential!
