Hollywood is practicing SIT to go out & SIT to come in. It's a very simple but important exercise that puts trainer Tracy (the leader) in control of both the outside and inside environments. If Tracy lets Hollywood push past or pull her through the door, whether coming in or going out, it puts Hollywood in charge. Instead, Tracy is the first one through the door, and therefore in control of the space.
Tracy also teaches Hollywood to sit at the door to promote calmness. She takes her time and waits for her to relax and look up, as if to ask permission to be released.
As leaders, we always need to be consistent at each door for this exercise to be effective. That's how we teach good door habits. By promoting calmness and self control at the door, Hollywood’s door dashing days will soon go away! Great work Hollywood!
