Rosco is learning to SETTLE in a busy area of the house. No matter what is happening around him, he must learn to stay put while kids walk by. They need to ignore him, and he needs to ignore them. Without attention from the kids, it’s easier for him to relax. While he is learning, the leash makes it easy to put him back every time he gets up. If he does happen to hop up off the bed, Tracy is right there to lead him back to his bed. She never lets him get away with it! It also helps to practice this exercise after he is tired from his leash drills outside. Once he is tired, he is happy to settle in a cool spot in the house, which sets him up to succeed. Expecting Rosco to settle on a bed when he is amped with energy sets everyone up for frustration. A tired Rosco is a happy to comply Rosco.
Trainer Tracy is watching you from the kitchen Rosco! No dogs, kids or husbands allowed while she’s cooking! Good boy!
