When Suzy arrived at training camp, she was a pro at doing fake sits. It was her little way of retaining control even when she was supposedly following a command. This type of faux obedience means she isn't really respecting whoever is giving her the command.
Trainer Tracy just says NO! to faking obedience at her house. It takes patience and consistency on her part to stand there and wait until Suzy's tail fully hits the ground. She isn't rewarded for trying. She doesn't get a good girl for almost sitting. Tracy tells her to sit once, and waits until Suzy's butt is completely on the ground. Then Tracy makes her hold it for a few seconds before giving the release command. This makes it clear to Suzy that she is to sit when she's commanded to do so, and to stay there until she's released.
Now that Suzy knows what's expected, and respects her leader, her sits are much better. Hooray for patience and communication!
Good Job Suzy!
